First item. I just finished watching Julie and Julia. It was good. Not great. Spoiler alert!...I really hated that Julie never got to meet Julia Child because Julia she didn't approve of her blogging. I did like that the movie showed so many recipes and how they don't always come out as planned. Very realistic as sometimes when I make something new I quickly decide to throw the recipe out and move on to something better. For instance, last week I made "Lighter Chicken and Biscuits" from Martha Stewart's website. It was bland, probably because of the "Lighter". Why does eating healthy suck? Bring on the cream and sodium rich chicken broth!!! On the other hand, I did also make Cayenne Chicken with Avocado Salsa last week and it was great. Super light and refreshing. Mike loved it! That recipe is a keeper.
Second. I finished reading Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It was a quick read. I am interested to read Alice and Wonderland and Philosophy: Curiouser and Curiouser by William Irwin and Richard Brian Davis. I know there are several interpretations of the book but I have my own theories. Maybe it's because of this Psych Nursing class. I think the Mad Hatter is schizophrenic. He rhymes and says things that make no sense. And has crazy eyes and can't really relate to people. Who knows. Maybe I'm reading into it too much. Apparently Alice is supposed to represent feminism. I just think she's a little rude. Always barging in on the other characters and staying around even when she is asked to leave. She also has conversations with herself. One thing I did really appreciate about the book was all the poems that Alice recites. And, of course, I love the chesire cat. The grin without a cat. Anyways, now I have moved on to Through the Looking Glass. We'll see how that goes since I have also started Tess of the D'Urbervilles, which is very dark so far. I'm only a chapter in.
Third. Wedding planning is slowly beginning. Just got in contact with someone at The Phoenix Art Museum about wedding dates. They have many available for next April or May. But it's about $5,000 just to rent the venue. Yikes! Mike and I will be working on our guest list more soon. We originaly thought we'd like it to be below 75 but it is at about 120+ right now. I'm excited about moving forward with wedding planning. Mike and I have a lot going on between that and the house.
To be continued....
